According to the 2003 National Survey of Children’s Health, 11% of West Virginia’s children under the age of 18, or approximately 43,000 individuals, have asthma.
The West Virginia Asthma Education and Prevention Program aspires to raise awareness of asthma as a priority health concern in the state and to reduce suffering, disability, death, and economic costs related to the disease.
